Leading engineering company, TECOSIM, have been awarded a place on a scheme designed to support companies providing services to offshore wind.

As one of over 30 organisations from a range of industries including oil and gas, aerospace and defence, TECOSIM join other companies working in the renewables sector on the OWGP WEST Pilot Programme.

The WEST initiative encourages the growth of new and existing offshore wind supply chain companies, providing needs-focussed expert business support alongside market intelligence and insights into the sector. The programme also stimulates the growth of UK businesses seeking to harness the opportunities on offer to the global offshore wind sector.

Promoting the cross-transfer of knowledge, skills and technologies from other sectors, the programme aims to meet the needs of the renewables industry in order to build a strong UK supply chain, acknowledging the growth ambitions set out in the UK Offshore Wind Sector Deal. This is a key focus for the OWGP West Programme, alongside strengthening the capabilities of existing supply chain companies.

TECOSIM have been awarded a place on the programme, having been chosen from a roster of more than 40 other businesses.

Janet Rix, Commercial Lead for TECOSIM, said ” We are delighted to be part of this exciting opportunity and look forward to being able to support the Energy sector with the knowledge and technologies that we have developed from our work in the Automotive Industry. ”

The second wave of WEST activity began in January 2021, with the first in December 2020. A total of £200,000 of funding has been allocated to support the selected organisations who will work with UK offshore wind and business support experts including representatives from: 4C Offshore, BVG Associates, Everoze, Lumen Energy & Environment, Opergy, Offshore Renewable Energy Catapult, RTC North and Xodus Group.
